Caffe Todos Santos | Breakfast in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur

One of my favorite things about Todos Santos is how understated some of the businesses are — and Caffe Todos Santos is a perfect example.

At first glance it reads as a simple bohemian colonial storefront: brick and archways, terracotta tiles, hand-painted tiles. But enter the space and you’ll find yourself looking straight through the back of the building and out onto a stunning open-air patio that more than doubles the capacity of the restaurant.

If you’re looking for where to eat in Todos Santos, this patio alone is reason enough to show up.

The lush landscaping paired with a slatted wood cover provides just enough shade to cut the overhead Baja sun, while giving the patio a modern touch that distinguishes it from the cafe interior. Colorfully painted wrought-iron chairs, brick walls, and vibrant tropical palms make the whole thing feel like a whimsical oasis — a genuinely fun surprise for the unassuming customer walking in off the street.

Caffe Todos Santos is located on Calle Benito Juarez, just half a block from the famed Hotel California, right in the heart of Todos Santos’ historic downtown. It’s one of the most charming restaurants in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur — and one of the easiest to walk right past if you’re not paying attention.

I can personally vouch for the Huevos Rancheros — my go-to just about anywhere I go. The soft tortillas were drowned in a chunky, jalapeño-flecked ranchero sauce made in house, with over-medium eggs nestled underneath. A handful of shredded cheese covered the eggs, and a healthy portion of refried beans topped with cotija rounded out a delicious breakfast in Baja California Sur that I’m still thinking about.

I had a drip coffee with cream — likely my third cup that morning. So far I was impressed with the coffee in Todos Santos, even the complimentary coffee in the kitchenette at our elegant hacienda rental just down the street was strong and pungent.

My husband ordered the Molletes con Chorizo — cheesy refried beans, scrambled eggs, and pico de gallo piled on toast. While it didn’t appear to be on a traditional bolillo, he was still very pleased. And as a self-professed bean connoisseur, he was over the moon at the texture and richness of those refried beans.

The service was friendly and fast — we were genuinely blown away by how quickly the food came out, though it wasn’t very busy at the time and their kitchen was impressively large and well staffed.

Caffe Todos Santos is open 7 am to 3pm everyday. What I can say is that breakfast was delicious, the patio is show-stopping, and the ample seating makes it a great spot for groups and families visiting Todos Santos. Mains run around 200-300 pesos ($12-16 USD) — pretty typical for restaurants in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur.

One regret: their cinnamon rolls had already sold out by the time we arrived that morning. Consider yourself warned — get there early.
